A Special Message from our CEO in Response to COVID-19 and the state of emergency in Japan

To our  Homii Community,

I would like to update you on the actions we are taking to respond to the evolving COVID-19 situation in Japan, and to express my deepest sympathies to all who are being affected.

Suspend the start of a new stay through Homii until May 6.
Considering the epidemic of COVID-19 and the declaration of the state of emergency in Japan, we have decided to suspend the start of a new stay through Homii until May 6.Our first priority is the health and safety of our community members, including all the host and guests, and staff.

When to resume
We are currently planning to restart supporting new stays after May 7th. Therefore, we will continue to provide matching services for guests who are planning to start staying at hosts’ house after May 7, and for hosts who wish to accept them. However, as the impact of COVID-19 remains uncertain, there is a possibility that the service suspension period will be reviewed and the service provision content will be changed.I would deeply appreciate your kind understanding.
You can check our detailed response to COVID-19/ information about medical support in Japan from the link below. Our COVID-19 Response

Alternative services during the suspension of new stays
We are considering to provide several online services so that you can enjoy Homii even if you can not accept guests or you cannot stay at the host’s house. Please check our Facebook Page! We will keep updating you.

Finally, We have a value called “Our Homii.” It means Homii is not for one representative, but for all employees, all guests and hosts in our community. It would be sincerely great if we all can make Homii a better service together.

Now, the invisible enemy named “Coronavirus” has stopped the “visiting unknown places” and “interacting with local people” globally at the rarest level in the past 10 years.
Since July 2019, I myself have been living at hosts’ houses on Homii, but from April, I’m at risk of being infected and causing trouble to the hosts. Considering this, I decided to live alone.
Also at work, I’m now away from my friends and colleagues, working from home, and I feel more lonely. However, it must be an opportunity to realize the importance of “connecting with others” again.
Thus, we will continue to value each and every connection with our hosts and guests in line with our “Our Homii” value.

By overcoming this severe situation, I believe that we can build the strongest connection with all of our community members ever. We look forward to welcoming more guests to our hosts and to enjoy interacting with you.

Please take care of yourself and your family.

Thank you and truly yours,
Founder & CEO of Diverseas Inc. Hidetaka Ko
